Why did you start entering giveaways?

This is a post that I have started on several times in the past.  The reason it has been so hard to start is because of the reason or reasons that drew me to entering giveaways.  I gave birth to my last child in July 2009.  It was a very hard pregnancy with lots of complications and because of these complications during and after delivery I became very depressed.

My husband helped me out for a few months since he was laid off work and I was physically recovering from a difficult pregnancy and delivery which ended me up in ICU briefly and a two week stay in the hospital.

After he returned to work, I become very lonely and withdrawn.  Now I love to read, but for some reason there were times when I just didn't want to and wanted another way to socialize with others.  I had started couponing back around 2004 because of a local article in the News and Observer featuring a local couponer and I became hooked.  I often searched for local resources or blogs that featured couponing or ways to save money and found Money Saving Mom and she was hosting a contest/giveaway for some Tyson products coupons.  I received an email over several weeks later that I won and became hooked on entering giveaways and receiving free items.

This helped me focus on something else besides feeling lonely.  I started going back out into the community, taking my kids to the park and going back to my favorite place in the world....the library.

I really enjoy entering giveaways, they often give me a way to provide things for my family that we wouldn't otherwise be able to afford or things I wouldn't normally purchase.

Why did you start entering giveaways?  Do you find them to time consuming? Do you keep the things that you win for your family?

New Fall Shows I Can't Wait For

It's the beginning of the school year, which means fall is on it's way which means football season, an upcoming basketball season, baseball playoffs and of course a new fall television season.  Every year many shows premiere and only a handful make the cut.  It seems every year a show that I fall in love with is always cut so I look forward to the fall season with a lot of trepidation.  This upcoming fall tv season has an eclectic mix at best.  There are shows premiering that are remakes, shows dated in the 1960s, and of course there are always new cop shows that seem to premiere, but one unusually thing I noted has been the onslaught of scifi type of shows.  I love scifi shows and am a big fan of SciFi network (which is now SyFy).  Here are some of the shows that I am anticipating the premiere of in no particular order.

1.  The River (ABC)

2.  Terra Nova (FOX)

3. Alcatraz (FOX)

4. American Horror Story (FX)

5. Grimm (NBC)

6. Awake (NBC)

7. Suburgatory (ABC)

8. Prime Suspect (NBC)

9. Hell on Wheels (AMC)

10.Persons of Interest (CBS)

Honorable Mention (Shows I have interest in also)
1. Homeland (Showtime)
2. Secret Circle (CW)
3. Revenge (ABC)
4.The Finder (FOX)
5. Hart of Dixie (CW)

Shows I will peek at (but probably have no hope of being picked up)
1. A Gifted Man (CBS)
2. Touch (FOX)
3. Unforgettable (CBS)
4. Scandal (ABC)
5. Once Upon a Time (ABC)

I don't have any comedies listed, because many of the ones that have previewed don't really stand out or look interesting.  I hate to say it but I don't any of the new comedies will be a knock out hit like Modern Family and Cougar Town were when they premiered over two years ago.  I guess we will see which of the shows out of my top ten and honorable mention will make it, but if they look as good as they previewed then they will be probably get cut and they will get replaced with less interesting (boring) shows.  Isn't this what always happens when a brilliant and well written show premieres without 10 million viewers?

Bzz Agent Review-SCJ Products

I recently received a few SCJ Products in the mail a few weeks.  These product consisted of a full size Pledge, Scrubbing Bubbles Mega Shower Foamer, Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Cleaning Gel, Glade Sparkle of Spring candle, Glade Scented Oil refill and a coupon booklet.  Now that I have a scented oil refill, I can't locate my Glade scented oil plugins so this means a trip to the store when there is a sale and coupons.  I haven't posted pictures of the products received because as soon as the box was open I put the items to work.  I love SC Johnson products and have used them for years.

I love the scented candle, if I hadn't received this in the mail the likelihood that I would have tried this scent is low.  I usually stick to scents that are easily recognizable like rain or clean linen, but I loved this scent.  I think I will branch out and try other scents that have a spring smell.

I also have used the Scrubbing Bubbles Mega Shower Foamer, because with six people taking baths twice a daily we needed something that worked without strong odors on a daily basis that was quick.  I have had bad experienced with foamer bath cleaners before, but with this product I was surprised that it started working as soon as I sprayed it and it started foaming.  All I needed was a scrubbing pad to clean the foam off and I was presented with a clean tub.  I really liked how easy it was to use and that it left no residue or unpleasant odor.

I tried the Pledge on my coffee table and loved the shiny look that it left and the lemon scent was great.  I didn't have an opportunity to clean my bookcase beside dusting or the television carts beside  dusting the wood with a 1 yo trying to constantly "help" mommy, but was pleased with the results.

The remaining two products the Scrubbing Bubbles toilet gels and the Glade Scented oil refill haven't been used yet, but they will be soon.  But I have tired the Scrubbing bubbles toilet gels before and really liked the results from before and unless SC Johnson have changed anything, I am pretty sure that I will still be pleased with the results.

Bzz Agent Review-Factor Tree

I have been a bzz agent since 2006 and in the past five years.  I recently signed up for the chance to try out Factor Tree for a 30 day trial period.  The purpose was to see if this would help my 10 year old daughter prepare for upcoming E. O. G.'s (end of grade) testing for her 4th grade year.  She is an excellent student but has been having minor problems in math.

It was easy to get started and sign up for the free trial (even though I received an email from Factor Tree stating that my trial had expired at least 5 days early). Once registered, the site was easy for my daughter to navigate and it offered her a student tour and for parents who are unsure about if their interested they offer a parent tour.  It was easy to keep track of her progess with the parent dashboard which provided me with a detailed progress of what she completed and her score.

She enjoyed factor tree and was able to take an average of two test within thirty minutes and if she missed any problems I would review with her to make sure she understood what she did wrong and helped her work the problem until it was correct.

Disclosure:  I received no financial compensation for this post, I signed up for a 30 day free trial and the opinions offered are my own honest opinions.
